LTC JUSTIN HOWE

LTC Justin Howe is a native of Irwin, PA.  In 1998, he graduated from The Citadel with a Bachelor of Science in Business and was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the Air Defense Artillery.

 

Upon completion of the Officer Basic Course, LTC Howe was assigned to 5-5 ADA, Camp Casey, Korea where he served as a Bradley Stinger Fighting Vehicle Platoon Leader.  In Korea he had the honor of serving alongside SFC Randall Daugherty.  In 2000, he was then assigned to 3-62 ADA, 10th Mountain Division (Light) Fort Drum, NY where he served as the Early Warning Platoon Leader and Headquarters and Headquarters Battery Executive Officer alongside 1SG Terry Young.  He was then assigned to Headquarters, 10th Mountain Division (Light) where he deployed to the countries of Kosovo as the Assistant Division G3 Air and to Afghanistan as a Battle Captain.

 

After completion of the Air Defense Captains Career Course, he served as the Battalion S1 for 2nd Battalion, 44 Air Defense Artillery Regiment, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault).  He later served as the Battery Commander for Delta Battery, 2-44 ADA and did so with 1SG Donald Danner and 1SG Gregory Travis.

 

LTC Howe next served as the Assistant Professor of Military Science at the University of Hawaii, Manoa.  He was privileged to have instructed alongside SFC Antonio Ricodelafuente.  LTC Howe then moved to Fort Sill, OK to serve as the S3 for 2-6 ADA and subsequently the S3 and DCO for 6th ADA BDE.

 

Following completion of his tour at Fort Sill, LTC Howe was stationed in Kuwait as the XO to the ARCENT DCG where he worked alongside MSG Sandra Ockletree.  After a year, he returned to Fort Knox, KY to serve as an Assignment Officer for the Air Defense Artillery Branch.  He most recently finished his third year at the Army Human Resource Command as the Active Component Distribution Chief.

 

LTC Howe’s previous assignment prior assuming the University of Tennessee Army ROTC Professor of Military Science was Commander of Headquarters and Headquarters Battalion, 4th Infantry Division, Fort Carson, Colorado.  While assigned to HHBN, 4ID, LTC Howe had the pleasure of commanding with CSM Pickerin and CSM Owen.

 

LTC Howe’s awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal (1OLC), Meritorious Service Medal (5OLC), Army Commendation Medal (V-Device, 3 OLC), Army Achievement Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, NATO (Kosovo) Medal, Kosovo Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Korean Defense Service Medal, Overseas Service Ribbon, and the German Army Proficiency Badge (Gold).  He is a graduate of Air Assault School, Airborne School, and Ranger School.  He also earned the Combat Action Badge during operations in Iraq.
