Command Sergeant Major (Retired) William K. Maddox was born in Memphis, Tn. He
graduated from Henry County High School in Paris, TN and enlisted in the United States Army
completing basic training and advance individual training at Fort Bliss, Texas.
CSM Maddox has held numerous leadership positions to include: Stinger Team Chief, Vulcan
Squad Leader, Stinger Section Sergeant, Platoon Sergeant, Field Recruiter, Battery First
Sergeant, Brigade Operations Sergeant Major, Battalion Command Sergeant Major, Brigade
Command Sergeant Major, and Installation Command Sergeant Major.
CSM Maddox’s previous duty assignments include, 2d Battalion 5 th ADA, 2d Armored Div., Ft.
Hood, TX., 5 th Battalion 5 th ADA, 2d Infantry Div. Korea (1989-1990,2002-2003), 3d Battalion
3d ADA, 5 th Infantry Div, Ft. Polk, La., 3d Battalion (Airborne) 4 th ADA, 82d Airborne Div., Ft.
Bragg, NC., (1992-1995,1999-2002), Sacramento Recruiting Battalion, Sacramento CA., 2d
Battalion 44 th ADA, 101 st Airborne (AASLT), 94 th Army Air and Missile Defense Command, Ft.
Shafter HI., 108 th ADA Brigade Operations Sergeant Major, Ft. Bragg, NC, 2-44 ADA Battalion
Command Sergeant Major Ft. Campbell, KY, 69 th ADA Brigade Command Sergeant Major Ft.
Hood TX, and Installation Command Sergeant Major White Sands Missile Range, NM.
His military schooling include, the Primary Leadership Development Course, Basic
Noncommissioned Officers Course, Advanced Noncommissioned Officers Course, First

Airborne Course, Advanced Airborne Course, and the Sergeants Major Course (Class 59).
He holds a Bachelor of Science from Excelsior College and a Masters or Arts from the
University of Texas at El Paso.
His awards and decorations include: the; Legion of Merit (1OLC); Bronze Star Medal (1OLC);
Meritorious Service Medal (4OLC); Army Commendation Medal (5OLC); Army Achievement
Medal (7 OLC); Good Conduct Medal (7 th AWD); the National Defense Service Medal; the

Terrorism Expeditionary Medal; the Iraqi Campaign Medal; NCO Professional Development

CSM Maddox is married to the lovely Kelli Maddox and has two children: Paige and Brock.
